I was thinking about the last story I read to you, and thinking it’d be nice if other events of this variety, the sort of events that are difficult to explain to small children, were similarly reimagined. And not just on a large scale, either. I’m talking about The Pulling of My Wisdom Teeth Considered as a Jaunt Through a Daisy Field, or The Love Affair Between Gravity and my Ceiling, Considered as a Synchronized Swimming Spectacular. And here’s another.
Miette, I just found your podcast, and wanted to say thanks, I enjoy it very much!
Hi miette,
I just love these podcasts. I was listening to librivox’s psmith in the city and happened to come
across two chapters read by you. What a pleasant surprise!
Keep it up.
If you want to read a Ballard novel, I suggest The Concrete Island to start off with.
I recommend just about all Ballard novels. And his stories are all as self-contained as this one, and perfect slivers of his longer work, and just as recommended. Glad so many people are finding this one.
Thank you for this reading. -C
I just reviewed this story over on Free Listens ( http://www.freelistens.blogspot.com ). Thanks for the great reading!
